Something I missed when we first moved to Åland was basketball. Basically, there wasn’t any outside school PE classes and the annual Åland Street Basket tournament. Groups of friends played basketball during the summer in splendid isolation from each other. Just under a year ago, I read about three young guys who were going to take part in Åland Street Basket and joined up with them as the only Åland team playing.
Since then, basketball activity on Åland has taken off. There are now four regular training times with both guys and girls playing. We are founding an Åland Basketball Association and our website is under construction:

We’ve got just over a year until the Island Games come to Åland and our goal is to enter a basketball team from Åland. There’s a long way to go before we’re ready for that, but it’s looking good!

GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK ON THE BLOG!
IMPRESSIVE LIFTING AND TRAINING SCHEDULE
BEST WISHES FOR YOUR (AND OTHERS) ENDEAVOURS TO GET A TEAM TOGETHER FOR THE ‘GAMES’
PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOU CAN LIFT 3 BONNIES (90kg)
Thanks for the encouragement. The weight training seems to be paying off. I’ve now progressed to an 8 x 80kg deadlift too, and I weighed 75.6kg today, which is more than a kilo (extra muscle) over the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life! It’s also more than two and a half kilos heavier than when I started lifting weights.
No more entries, I guess you have been busy doing it rather than writing about it!
The website looks to be coming along well!
Thanks for this post I will be forwarding it to my sister.
